About Us
English Fellowship of Guadalajara is a group of Christians from different countries, different cultures, different generations, and different church backgrounds. Our common ground is that we love Jesus and desire to grow in relationship with Him. We learn together by studying the Bible together. For the singing and teaching time in our services, we use English. Afterward, there is a time of food and conversation where different languages can be heard. Guadalajara is a city that attracts students, professionals, and retired persons from English speaking countries around the world. English Fellowship has become a temporary church home for many such people over the years. Of course, another very cherished part of our Fellowship are Latin Americans.

The Focus Of Our Lives
English Fellowship is centered around one amazing person, Jesus of Nazareth. He is the only Savior. He is the King of all creation. He is the Lord of our lives. We always seek to grow in relationship with Him. We hope to honor Him with the way we live our lives. As fellow believers, we encourage each other in the spiritual growth of each person. And we love to help those who are curious discover their own personal relationship with Jesus.

What We Believe
At Fellowship, we have people who come from different church traditions. But we find common ground by sharing classic Christian theology.

The Bible

We believe the Bible, containing Old and New Testaments, is the inspired Word of God. Written by human authors under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit, the Bible is the ultimate source of doctrine, instruction, correction, and reproof. The Bible is the central authority for Christian beliefs and living. It includes all that is needed for a life of godliness. Any prompting from the Holy Spirit must be measured against the standard of God’s Word. God’s Word and His Spirit are always in agreement.

God

God is not distant and uncaring; He is intimately involved with His creation. We rejoice that He is merciful toward sinful people, that He hears and answers prayer, and that He saves from sin and death all who come to Him through Jesus Christ. We believe that there is one true God, eternally existing in three persons: the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.

Jesus Christ

We believe God expressed himself in human form through Jesus Christ, who is fully man and fully God. He is the perfect reflection of God’s character and is equal in deity with the Father and the Holy Spirit. While retaining His divine nature, Jesus became a man, being born of a virgin through the work of the Holy Spirit. He lived a sinless life and showed the depth of God’s love by allowing Himself to be crucified for sinners. Those who believe in His sacrifice are declared righteous on the basis of His death. Jesus physically resurrected from the dead on the third day. He ascended into Heaven and will return again to reign forever with those who are His. His kingdom has no end. Jesus is unique among other religious leaders in that He didn’t just point to a path to be followed but declared Himself to be “the way, the truth, and the life.”

The Holy Spirit

We believe the Holy Spirit is the promised Comforter, the Helper, the Spirit of Christ, who lives in all those who have put their faith in Jesus. The Holy Spirit is not an impersonal force. The Spirit has a mind, emotions, and a will. He teaches, leads, sends, and gives spiritual gifts to the people of God. He is present in the world to make all people aware of how much they need Jesus Christ. The Holy Spirit regenerates hearts and lives in every believer from the moment of salvation. He provides Christians with the power we need to live, helps us to understand spiritual truth, and guides us in doing what is right.

Salvation

We believe that we are all created in the image of God but are also sinners, both by choice and by nature – every one of us. It is impossible to be good enough to earn salvation – we need to repent of our sins and trust in Christ. Then we are washed clean by the Holy Spirit, not because of our goodness, but only because of God’s grace and mercy. Then, the Spirit enables us to live lives for the glory of God and for the well-being of our fellow men.
